HER EXCELLENCY, PROFESSOR MARIE BASHIR AC CVO, GOVERNOR OF NEW SOUTH WALES, WILL TRAVEL TO THE UAE TO OPEN BIG ONES LITTLE ONES® - TOGETHER WITH HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS, SHEIKH DR. SULTAN BIN MOHAMMED AL QASIMI, RULER OF SHARJAH, ON 5 MARCH 2008.
This exciting and eclectic new event will be held at the Sharjah Museum for Contemporary Arab Art and continue at the Museum until 30 April. It is the latest in Trish Amichi’s BIG ONES LITTLE ONES series of art exhibitions, aimed at breaking down stereotypes and increasing understanding between communities.
Participants in the joint venture include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Artists from across Australia; children from St. Lucy’s School for Special Needs Children, Sydney; students from Emirates Very Special Arts, Sharjah; Special Needs artists from the United Arab Emirates and the Gulf, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Egypt, Jordan and the United States.
Co-coordinated by Mr. Hisham Madthloom, Director of Arts, Ministry of Culture and Information, Sharjah and Trish Amichi, Gallery Amichi, Sydney, Australia, under the auspices of Her Highness, Sheikha Jameela Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Director General, Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, TOGETHER is a result of an ongoing connection between Gallery Amichi and Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services.
International courier company DHL is major Sponsor for TOGETHER, which also has the support of Sydney based Exceland Property Group, Seaview Computers, Cicada Press, The College of Fine Arts (U.N.S.W.) and Queensland’s Mornington Island Art & Craft Centre, as well as the Fine Arts Department, Sharjah University, the Ministry for Culture and Information, the Sharjah Museums Group and the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services.
