With a focus on excellence, understanding and partnerships, Trish Amichi has also established the BIG ONES LITTLE ONES exhibitions. These exhibitions link urban, rural and remote communities across Australia and more recently, across the world. The LITTLE ONES (school students) present their art alongside that of the BIG ONES - the grown up artists - who so generously support Gallery Amichi exhibitions and provide invaluable role models for the young artists.

Trish Amichi - Principal
Born in Sydney, Trish completed her B.Sc, TESOL (Grad.Cert) and Public Health (Grad.Cert) at the University of New South Wales. She has travelled extensively, lived overseas and has personal connections in many countries. She has worked in interesting and diverse areas, including Research & Development in Nuclear Medicine, teaching English as a Second Language and lecturing in Academic Skills and Communication. Trish continues to teach part-time in the Faculty of Engineering at UNSW.
In 2005, together with Alan Hodgkinson, Assoc. Dean, Faculty of Medicine (UNSW) she was co-author of Clinicians as Managers, written for the Pacific Open Learning Health Network, developed for health workers in Pacific Island countries and funded by WHO.
It was through her involvement in areas of Health and Education that Trish first began working with Indigenous people. Gallery Amichi was launched in March 2003 with the idea of exhibiting work done by many of her friends - who were Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists. By the end of 2003, she had already organized and successfully held three exhibitions.
2004 saw the beginning of a new project, with the inaugural BIG ONES LITTLE ONES exhibition. This new series features work from established and emerging Indigenous artists alongside that of schoolchildren, originally from Australia but now from many countries across the world.
Trish Amichi is currently working on the latest BIG ONES LITTLE ONES – Together exhibition. It will be held at Parliament House, Sydney from 3-25 July and will bring together art and stories from 15 countries.
