FEEDBACK/COMMENTS from

I have been involved with Gallery Amichi and participated in 'Big Ones Little Ones' for 3 consecutive years. It is a multicultural art exhibition and it has given art students in Remote Indigenous Communities in Australia, including the Torres Strait Islands the opportunity to exhibit their paintings, along side of the professional established artists, in a big city like Sydney…(this year) St. Paul's Primary School, Moa Island has been selected to exhibit, and I am very happy because I come from St. Paul's and I had seen the faces of the art children participating in the art exhibition. I hope Gallery Amichi continues the very good work that no other art gallery is doing. Rosie Barkus, Torres Strait Islands Artist

It was good to be part of the Big Ones Little Ones exhibition.
It is good for the kids to be learning here and doing painting with their mothers and grandmothers and their aunties and sisters. When they leave school they can continue with that work, they can do art. We give education through art early. Aboriginal education in art - it's about passing on culture. We've got to teach them while they are young, about what the land is. This is the only place where we teach them that and it is encouraged by the teachers and the principal. It is good to see it grow. The stories and paintings give the kids ideas. When the kids see their paintings in an exhibition and they see their paintings getting bought by people, it makes then happy.

In this time of conflict and misunderstanding among different people around the world, an event such as ‘Connecting communities' brings closeness and peace back into our world. We are all different, but each and every one of us is special and has some kind of uniqueness, which should be respected and appreciated. This is a great opportunity for our children, from The Very Special Arts group in the UAE, to participate and to be visible - through their work in the Big Ones Little Ones art exhibition. Our thanks and appreciation goes to Trish Amichi and Helen Schrader for their efforts in making this possibility a reality and our participation come true.
